Buffy, Buffy, Buffy.....

I'm really excited for the arrival of my complete BTVS Series. Although I've seen every episode at least 3 times (thanks to the DVR), I'm looking forward to watching every episode in order and in the highest quality possible. This is a smart, innovative show with superb writing, wonderful young (and not so young) actors, and real life situations and emotions woven into the supernatural world that is Buffy's. The more powerful and slayery Buffy gets, the more vulnerable she becomes. Her supporting cast of characters are fresh and fun. They have a language all their own, however, you can still understand what they say. I've never been able to decide if this series is horror, comedy or drama. Actually, is all of the above, combined. As for the storylines, they are interwoven, some even between non-consecutive seasons. References to past events and comments are smattered throughout. As a prime example, at the end of an episode in Season One, after the big bad has been taken out, Buffy's watcher comments as he looks on, "The earth is doomed", while Buffy and friends skip off to class. In the series finale (Season Seven), right before the last big bad battle, Buffy's watcher comments "The earth is definately doomed" as Buffy and friends (the same friends from Season One) split up to defend their stations. I'm a man in his mid-thirtys and I think this is the best show to ever hit the TV. I wish there could have been shows like this on while I was growing up. The Brady's didn't exactly tell it like it was. This show has taught me alot about life, even at my age. The best therapy I'll ever pay for. And I got the whole series for one great price.

Looking forward to a great collection

A friend got me hooked on Buffy earlier this year by loaning me her season-by-season sets (seasons 1-6, still waiting for 7). I was skeptical, and season 1 didn't do much to move me--clever dialogue, yeah, but the monster-of-the-week format didn't seem like anything special. But by the third episode of Season 2, I was hooked. I was watching two and three episodes of Buffy a night, watching the characters grow and change in fast-forward.

There are websites that dissect the occasional flaws and inconsistencies of fact, but what I was amazed at was how consistent it was at heart. The characters change and grow, they have good weeks and bad, but they all grow in ways consistent with their characters as we first meet them.

And we come to care about them, deeply--to feel for their pains and losses, to grow frustrated with their weaknesses and blind spots. Yes, the series is full of humor and adventure and scary demons, but ultimately, it is full of these rich and complex characters, their trials, their fears, the dilemmas--big and small--that they must wrestle, and the internal demons they must face.

The first person to review this box says that "this set does not represent a new product in any way, but merely collects all of the seasons in a new, low price." I'm hoping that that's not precisely the case. Yes, the discs will hold precisely the content of the seven individual season collections. however, while there is no picture for this collection as I write this, on Amazon's site in the UK, there are pictures of a nice single vertical box with an embossed seal on the outside and each season in its own CD-sized package. The spines of the season packages stack up to assemble an image of Buffy. While the UK package is a limited edition (10,000 copies), I'm hoping that the US packaging for this complete collection will be equally unique and attractive (and compact). [UPDATE: Unfortunately, this was not the case. I bought this set, and I'm not at all disappointed by the quality of the discs or the series, but I really would have preferred a more compact and unified package for the entire series, and I think Fox Video is being quite stupid by offering that delicious looking package to just 10,000 Brits and not to American fans.]

The BEST TV Series!

I have always been a FAN! I saw EVERY episode when it was on TV. Now I can watch it whenever I want. BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER had an influence on so many shows that followed, like SUPERNATURAL, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, AND GRIMM, etc. You can see similar story lines that BUFFY started. No matter how many years pass, the BUFFY stories are still relevant. I highly recommend this BUFFY Box Set to anyone who wants to be entertained!

Loved watching this show with my mother!

Only thing that I disliked about this order, was due to the fact, it was used, so it didn't come with the coloring page. Besides that, I really am enjoying it alot! Watching season 6 right now, and out of all the seasons, my favorite ones have been seasons 1 through 3, when they were in High School, and had Angel in them. When season 5 came to an end, they should of stop the show their, and made the ending, a 2 part episode, showing Buffy's Furneal the proper way, having Angel showing up at her grave site, and showing how the rest of the actors and actresses, going on with their lives.
