Good series from start to finish

Was a fan from the very start of the tv series. So glad I could purchase it. But you never know till the very end will they marry, have a baby, or not! Really enjoyed the respect and discipline in this series.

Great value!

I started to get interested in this show right when the last season finished. So when I pulled the plug on my Direct TV and was looking for a lot of bang for the buck, I couldn't pass this up, even though the series ended 16 years ago. The JAG box set turned out to be one of the best entertainment values I've purchased. It's somewhat like a military soap opera. Each episode stands on its own, but there is a continuity to the larger evolving story. Takes you back to a time 25 years ago when the US military was the lone top dog in the world. China had not yet risen, and the USSR had fallen apart and the drunk Yeltsin was running Russia. Like everything produced in Hollywood over the last 60 years there is a constant liberal message apparent, but it doesn't spoil the show. The poison had not become as toxic as it is today. The guy who plays Harmon Rabb is the ultimate "tall, dark and handsome" hero. He's almost too good to be real. You expect this guy to eventually become a US Senator. I liked the blonde who played in the first season as the female lead and Rabb's sidekick more than I liked Mackenzie... although I liked Mac a lot. Ditching the blonde was simply more of that liberalism at work when CBS picked the series up. Anyway, there's about 25 episodes per season and ten seasons. That's a lot of DVD entertainment for a very cheap price. The show soon becomes addictive. I'm retired and would often watch three episodes in a sitting. The shows are well written with interesting story lines that are inspired by geopolitical factors of the time: issues in Russia, the US and NATO war against Serbia, Afghanistan and Iraq. Shows the US Navy and Marines at their best. If you ever served in either branch you will enjoy JAG. The show can best be described as Top Gun meets A Few Good Men. It's a nice mix of real military action combined with compelling courtroom drama. The main character, Lt. Rabb, is a former F-14 pilot who loses his wings after a botched night carrier landing. He discovers he has night vision problems. The series begins when Lt. Rabb begins his new Navy career as a JAG lawyer, where he soon distinguishes himself. His position often requires him to return to the fleet and global hot spots to investigate cases, which provide for exciting episodes. Rabb eventually gets his vision problems corrected through laser surgery, which was still new in the 1990s. And he wins back his pilot status... but does he really want to give up a burgeoning career as a top Navy lawyer to return to the fleet as a fighter pilot. Rabb is 6-4, smart and athletic and every woman's dream guy, so there are a lot of love interests. The series is so long and there is so much character development that you get to know the cast well. My favorite recurring guest is Mic Brumby, an Aussie challenger to Rabb's alpha male status. The show finally ends with Lt. Rabb a full commander and transitioning into middle age, along with his cast members. This series is so long and detailed that you come away from it feeling like you've lived another life, one a lot more exciting than your real one.
