There isn't a word great enough to describe this movie.

This movie will make you drteam about it for years. Five stars isn't even close to what I'd give it. It just touches your heart and warms you up when you watch it. It truly is a magical movie that's IMPOSSIBLE to forget. I mean, words can't even describe the marvoulous sceneries and the cartooning is absolutely amazing. I could watch this movie 20 times and still be going strong. It completely enthralled me with it's fantasy world, and it makes you want to jump inside the movie and fly on a broomstick. The story is about a 13 year-old girl named Kiki who travels from her calm village to a beautiful port city by the ocean to train to become a witch. She arrives in the town flyng wildly on her broomstick with her talking black cat, Jiji.
A peaceful bakery shop owner named Osono takes Kiki in and gives her a room to stay in. Soon, she begins a delivery service for the bakery, flying on her broom to peoples houses.
While delivering, she meets a curious boy named Tombo about her age and it's questionable as to whether they like each other or not. She also meets a remote painter in the woods and become great friends. After some time living in this town, though, Kiki finds herself losing her ability to fly. In the end, Kiki has to muster up all of her strength and willpower to save Tombo's life. Find out what happens by watching it yourself!

Too bad that America didn't think of this first.

How often would you run into a non-american film that is really good, in fact so good, that you might want to add it to your dvd or video collection, that you find what's funny in animated movies isn't aways funny in live action films, even a witch who has to spend a year away from home.
Kiki (Kirsten Dunst) is a 13 years old witch who has to spend a year away from home. Her mother is a witch. But Kiki doesn't know how to fly on a broomstick, her mother hasn't taught her yet. But Kiki has hidden talents that catch the people watching this and maybe her by surpise. Kiki decides to leave home on the perfect full moon. And when does come up, she does just that. So on the night Kiki and her black cat named Jiji (the late Phil Hartman) leave home. Kiki arrives in an un-named town. She does a good deed for a baker named Osono (Tess McNeille). She thanks Kiki by giving a room and lets her use the phone for delivery service and throws in a free breakfast.
First couple of delievers are for a pie and a birthday present from a boy's aunt that can't make the party in time. Kiki agrees to deliver a stuffed black cat that looks like her cat Jiji. But some birds warn them about an upcoming storm and Kiki ingores them. The present is in a bird cage. But somehow the cage gets opened. Kiki delivers it with her cat acting stuffed. Kiki goes off to look for the stuffed cat. It was saved by a painter named Ursula (Janeane Garofalo). She brings it to her cabin in the wood outside the town. Kiki finds it there and askes Ursula for it back to get it delivered. Ursula agress, but the cat's head is falling off. Take a look at what Kiki and Jiji talks baout early in the film:
Kiki: Jiji can you turn on the radio, I don't think I can reach it can you do it?
Jiji: Oh grat, now I am sundely the flight attented.

Kiki is Kawaii

"Kiki's Delivery Service" is another great movie by the great anime director Hayao Miyazaki. Kiki is a 13-year old girl who's also a witch. Following tradition, she must set out on the night of a full moon to a town (with no witches I gather) and begin her training away from home -- to learn her skills.
This movie is unique in that there are no bad guys. It is simply a story of a young girl, her cat Jiji, and her coming to the threshold of womanhood. So she has her first "romance" with one of the local boys who's into flying and really digs Kiki because she can fly on a broom. The romance is sweetly done and is nothing more than the romances many of us had at 12-13 -- totally innocent.
I've not yet seen the Japanese version (though I plan to), so I don't know how well of a job at translation Disney did. I hear it is pretty good though. Certainly, the English dub is very good -- maybe some of the best for anime. Phil Hartman is perfect in the role of Jiji the black cat. There are a few areas where I suspect things didn't translate as well, but that's to be expected since there are things in the Japanese language that don't translate well into English.
My only problem with the movie is that it really feels rushed at the end. So the ending wasn't very satisfying. However, seeing scenes through the credits (especially of Jiji) helped ease my pain (if you will).
Bottom line: This is a great kid's movie and one that adults will enjoy as well.

Original USA release from the 90s!!!

WHOOOO HOOOOOO!!!! IT WORKS!!!!
This is my 2nd attempt for this movie & vendor and I am SOOOOO HAPPY!!!
The first time, I couldn't get the DVD to play, no matter what device I used 😭😭😭 (unfortunately, this disc was one of the corrupted damaged ones).

I requested a replacement b/c this is a childhood favorite and I REALLY wanted what I grew up watching.
This has the original audio (no edits, no line cuts - 3 cheers for JIJI!!!! His sarcasm was GREATLY MISSED!) as well as the opening music, "I'm Soaring".
Thank you so much for getting this to me -- I literally squeaked for joy when it started playing on my FIRST ATTEMPT!!!!
*You know it's the USA original release within the first 5-10 min of the video:
-Kiki greets a man on a bike
-Jiji reacts to Kiki's announcement
-There's mystical music playing when Kiki's mom has to redo her potion after it explodes
-Also, Jiji gives Kiki panic directions when the first take off and she hits the trees 🤣
(This is all before the opening credits the with lovely 'Soaring' song)
