Law & Order: The Complete Collection Seasons 1-20 (DVD) | Full Crime Drama Set

Although a few minor glitches in early episodes, acting, story lines, production from the very beginning excellent...no wonder it continued for 20 years!

Too often these days you get DVDs in case that is meant not to work. That is not true for this 20 year series. Each of the 20 years have their own case and the cases are designed to be reusable. That is not true for many of the other cases I've been stuck with on a purchase. I RECOMMEND THIS PACKAGE - GREAT SERIES - GREAT CASE!!

It's a good series and the dvd set arrived in fine condition, but... this is nog a legit release. I knew there are a lot of bootlegged versions of this floating around, but I really wanted this series, so I took a gamble. I kind of expected to receive a bootleg version and when it came and I opened the box, I immediately knew this is not a official release. The dvd boxes are all transparant and that is not the biggest problem, but the holders inside the dvd cases are of poor quality, so a lot of discs were loose in the cases. Luckilly the scratching that this usually causes, was limited to a minimum. I cleaned all the discs and they all are scratch-free now.

I was considering sending it back, because it's nog a legit version, but decided to keep the set.

Not only because I live in Europe and sending the set back and maybe get a refund, still leaves me with costs that no one is going to refund me.
And second, everywhere I look: they are all the same sets I think Each and every set I see is in a price range of $100-$150.
I suspect if you want to get the real deal (which is probably out of print for a long time, hence all these bootleg versions) that is going to cost a steep price.

And third: the bootleg is very nicely done. It really looks like the real deal. I played a few discs from the first season and I think the picture quality is fine (it's probably compressed from 8GB to 4,7GB).
But on my standalone Panasonic blu ray player, with a good upscaling to 1080p, the picture looks fine to me.

So, in the end I'm able to watch this series again, takes me back to my youth, more carefree times.
The series itself is, of course, excellent (if you like these police tv series, and I really do).

It's a bootleg, but a very well done one and I will enjoy these series!

I was initially disappointed with the quality of the product when received, but the seller was very apologetic when I brought it to their attention and since the product was out of stock, they refunded the full purchase price. One star due to quality of product not the quality of show material.
I have watched two seasons thus far and of the ten discs I have viewed, four are defective. Most defective discs freeze in the middle if an episode, other will jump from the beginning of an episode to the near the end.
I got this at a great price, but it appears it is not a great value. I have purchased complete series of more than ten of my favorite television series (most from Amazon) and never experienced this problem.
Hopefully Amazon will make it right.

I just recieved my Law & Order mega boxset-what can I say but...WOW!!! Before I discuss the dvd, I'd like to comment on the seller. I bought this item used from Buy_The_Book. The item arrived in 7 days(Great so far!) The item's condition was described by them as brand new with a slight damage (a slim cut) on the barcode. The boxset arrived brand new in it's orginal plastic, in near mint condition, and the damaged barcode was almost unnoticeable. And unless you're planning on reselling this item, a slightly damaged barcode means virtually nothing. And besides, who in their right mind would buy this stunningly beautiful boxset at the prices it's offered at, just to resell it later? And as icing on the seller's cake, they offered it at the almost unheard of price of $350.00 (The same seller is currently offering this boxset in the exact same condition for $472.00-looks like I bought mine just in the nick of time!) And the dvd was sent carefully and meticulously packaged to protect against damage during shipping. Add up all these factors, and this seller could easily sell ice cubes to an eskimo!
Now for the dvd-where was I again? Oh yeah-WOW!!!! I've been a huge fan of this tv show almost from the very beginning. It's easily the 2nd best crime/courtroom drama ever made, 2nd only to Perry Mason (The original b/w episodes). What I've always liked so much about Law & Order was it's documentary like feel and the excelent writing and acting. But what I really liked most about the show was that the prosecuters (The Good Guys) DIDN'T ALWAYS WIN!!! This gave the show a true sense of realism that many other popular crime shows (like NCIS) just don't have.
I'm so glad Universal decided to release all 20 seasons in one massive beautiful boxset. It's great (and comforting) to know you have every season of your favorite show at your fingertips and available to watch whenever you want, as opposed to collecting a single season every year. I wish Paramount would do the same with Gunsmoke, instead of releasing it in those oh so annoying (and ridiculously high-priced) half season sets.
All in all, if you're a fan of Law & Order, then you NEED to get this wonderfully packaged megaset- it's a lovingly mounted tribute to a show that, 50 years from now, will be regarded as much a classic as shows like Perry Mason, The Untouchables, Hawaii 5-O and others. Believe me, you'll never regret the purchase!
